Dressing for Spring and Summer

For many, spring and summer are the perfect time to go out and have some fun. But it’s also a time for dressing up and discovering new fashion styles. Since you don’t have to cover up, you can get as creative as you like with clothes, makeup and accessories. You can’t run out of choices with the range of products out there. Whatever your tastes are, there’s sure to be a style that’s right for you.

Obviously, you’ll need to start with appropriate clothing. Light, flowing fabrics are always great for this time of the year, especially as the weather starts to warm up. Summer dresses and open sandals are great for creating that carefree look that puts anyone in a good mood. Go for bright pastel colors, vibrant shades, and nature-inspired patterns.

Know what clothing cuts work best for your body type. Spring and summer clothes are all about showing some skin but keeping a bit of modesty. Determine your good features and your flaws, and choose clothes that flatter your figure. If you have well-toned arms and shoulders, show them off with a halter top. Or if you have nice long legs, try wearing shorts or miniskirts that emphasize your height.

Makeup is also an important part of spring and summer fashion. This season usually calls for simple, toned-down makeup, but that doesn’t mean you should forgo color altogether. Soft shades like pink, rose and peach usually work best for the eyes. If you have a nice tan, show it off with gold or copper makeup. For the lips, nude or pale shades are the trend this year. Top off your favorite lip color with some lip gloss for a shinier finish.

Of course, you can’t go out without the right summer accessories. Since summer clothes tend to be light and simple, a bit of accessorizing can really go a long way. Take a look at your wardrobe and decide which accessories would work best for you. A plain white dress would look great with a vibrant necklace, while a well-chosen watch would complement a basic shirt-and-jeans ensemble.
